Intraband plasmon

Dear all,
I would like to know, does the electron energy loss spectrum calculated by BSE, contain both intraband and interband plasmon transitions? Or do we need to do additional RPA calculations to obtain the intraband and interband plasmon energy?
Best,

Dear lz Dong,
I assume you are dealing with a metallic system.
Intraband transitions are included (hence also the plasmon is reproduced.). Interband are automatically included at finite momentum, while they are not in the long wavelength limit (q-->0). In this case, you can use a Drude (with empirical parameters) model to take it into account.
Best,
Daniele

Dear Daniele,
Thank you very much for your reply. For a semiconductor with a small energy gap, both intraband and interband contributions should also be included at finite momentum, right?

Dear lz Dong,
I'm not sure that I've correctly understood your question,
in the presence of a gap (even if it is small), at zero temperature intraband transitions are not allowed as each band is either fully occupied or empty.
Best,
Daniele
