Exciton Transition dipole

Post by rishabhsrsw7 » Tue May 02, 2023 7:23 am

Hi,

I am trying to calculate the radiative lifetime of an exciton for my 2-D material. I wanted to know where can one calculate the BSE exciton transition dipole from. One answer states that the transition dipole can be found by multiplying the residuals and the strength, in the E sorted files. But that conversation has ended at an abrupt note. I would appreciate it a lot if someone could guide me on how to calculate the exciton transition dipole.

The biggest problem I am facing is of the units of various quantities.

Thank you

Dear ishabhsrsw7 ,

please sign your post with your name and affiliation, this is a rule of the forum!
You can do once for all by filling your signature in the user profile.

Can you better clarify what's the quantity you are interested in?
In the E_sort file, you have the strength of the excitation calculated as the square modulus of the residuals |R|^2 where:

R=sum_cvk A_cvk <vk|r|ck>|

see page 11a of the yambo cheatsheet:
https://www.yambo-code.eu/wiki/images/c ... et-5.0.pdf

All the quantities, can be read from the databases independently, using yambo-py.

Best,
Daniele
