Unable to unzip the database

Post by Zhishuo Huang » Tue Nov 17, 2015 12:44 pm

Dear all,

I just compiled the code (yambo-4.0.2-rev.90) without an error, but when I tried to unzip the database as instructed by the README file in the sample like "gunzip database_DB1_NETCDF_format.gz", I got a wrong message going as "gzip: database_DB1_NETCDF_format.gz: unexpected end of file".

What is wrong? Was not the compilation successful?
I will appreciate if anyone could give a hand!

Best Regards
Zhishuo Huang

Dear Zhishuo,
it looks it has nothing to do with the compilation. Which is the database you are trying to unzip?

Best,
Daniele

Dear Daniele,

It is the database in the sample of the bulk_silicon, in the directory "....../yambo-4.0.2-rev.90/doc/sample/bulk_silicon/SAVE".
I would like to perform the calculation of the sample in order to be familiar with the code before doing my own calculation.

Best

Dear Zhishuo Huang,
strange as I tested it, and it works for me, may some problem with your gunzip?
Anyway you can download sample files from the webpage in the tutorial section:

http://www.yambo-code.org/tutorials/

see YAMBO CORE DATABASES and REFERENCE files. The first tutorial on GW is about Silicon.
This is a zip file and I hope it will work for you.

Best,

Daniele
