Problem with parallelization and fragmentation

Post by tolsen » Mon Feb 07, 2011 3:34 pm

Hi

I am running the yambo 3.2.3 revision 676.

It seems like any calculation I try is not properly parallelized when I use the -S option. Everything works fine in parallel without the -S option, but with it, I get several output files and the top of all the r_... files says ....x 001 CPUs .....

I did not have any problems with the compilation. Earlier I have used the 3.1.1 version without having this problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Thomas, the problem was solved last November in the revision 15 of the GPL trunk (internal revision number, the one you're referring to, was 682). To solve the problem you can either download the latest source (or patch file) or you can become member of the QE-forge Yambo project in order to access directly the SVN repo. More instructions in download page.

Dear Andrea

Thanks for the quick reply. Before my post, I actually tried to obtain the latest version in the SVN to solve the problem. However, after having signed up at QE-FORGE (username tolsen) I tried

svn checkout svn+ssh://QE-FORGE-tolsen@scm.qe-forge.org/svn/yambo

but just get thet message

svn: Network connection closed unexpectedly

Is this a problem with my svn or did I not sign up correctly at QE-FORGE? I am not sure how to get the latest version without the SVN. I think the version I am using is the latest tarball.

Dear Thomas,

you do not have to replace the USERNAME in QE-FORGE-USERNAME with the one of the forum. Please, follow the instructions. You need to register on the qe-forge portal and ask to be member of the Yambo project. It is everything written in the download page.

Dear Andrea

Sorry for the confusion, but I have of course registered with QE-FORGE. I just happened to use the same username as the one I use here. The problem is as described above.

Dear Thomas,

I think you should try:
svn+ssh://tolsen@scm.qe-forge.org/svn/yambo

Cheers,

Hi

That gives the same result. But perhaps (as implied by Andrea above) I have to request to join?
I just though that is for developers only?

Yes, you have.
You have to be registered in QE-FORGE. You will be listed as user, in this way you can
download the svn version. I saw you joinied, now everything should work!

Cheers,

Dear Daniel and Andrea

Thanks for the help. I managed to download the latest svn version after having uploaded a key to qe-forge, and the new version solved my problem as expected:-)
