Hi all,
I just found reports of calculating dipole moments and polarizabilities from solution of the BSE in the literature. I wonder if anyone has used yambo to calculate these properties before?
Cheers,
Bjoern

Re: Dipole moment and polarizability for excited state
Dear Bjoern,
Polarizabilities, in finite systems, are related to the real part of macroscopic dielectric constants, or to its inverse.
\alpha \propto(\epsilon_M-1) or \alpha \propto (1-1/\epsion_M) depending if you consider the polarizability or
quasi polarizability (response to the total field, or to external field). In the proportionality constant enters the
volume of your supercell. Yambo calculates it when you specify in your input the NonPerDirs variable (i.e. non bulk systems).
About transition dipole moments, I never calculate them.
Best,
Daniele
