Dear all,
When I have calculated the the macroscopic polarizability of 2D materials, I can obtain the imaginary part of the macroscopic polarizability, which is related to optical conductivity or absorbance.
However, what can I learn from the Real part of the macroscopic polarizability for Alpha_Re (ω) in α2D ?
Thanks a lot for your help!
What can I learn from the Real part of the macroscopic polarizability for Alpha_Re (ω) in α2D ?

Dear Luo Yan,
it provides you with the static polarizability of the system and its frequency dependence, from the polarizability (complex) you can extract observables (reflectance, transmittance, abosrbance...).
Best,
Daniele

Dear Daniele,
Thanks for your help. I can obatin the real and imaginary part of the macroscopic polarizability form alpha_2D(w).
Then I should extract the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric function basing on macroscopic polarizability.
At last, I can extract observables (reflectance, transmittance, abosrbance...) via the equations in below attachment from the the real and imaginary part of the dielectric function ??
Please help me to understand this process. Thank you !!

Dear Luo Yan,
Please note that eps is not well defined for 2D systems so you should refer to alpha and derive the desired quantities.
Please note the forum is mainly meant for technical questions and usage of the code, for these kinds of questions I recommend you to discuss them with your supervisor and colleagues.
Best,
Daniele
