Meaning of input tag generated in real time simulation

You can find here problems arising when using old releases of Yambo (< 5.0). Issues as parallelization strategy, performance issues and other technical aspects.

Meaning of input tag generated in real time simulation

Post by Bramhachari Khamari » Thu Oct 14, 2021 11:07 am

Dear developers,
I would like to know the physical meaning related to the input tag created during real time simulation.

i) How to set this dephasing value
%DephMatrix # [RT] Dephasing Matrix (bnd1 | bnd2 | kpt | dephasing(fs) |)
1|1|1|-1.000000|

ii) From the given link (https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/1 ... .84.245110) equation 34., it is mentioned that lifetime of the
perturbed electronic population can be given as a input parameter. I could not get the input variable corresponding to (life time) from input.

Any help will be appreciated.

Dear developers,
I would also like to know the physical meaning of PhLifeTime from input of real time.

PhLifeTime=100.000000 fs # [RT] Constant Dephasing Time

Is this the life time of the perturbed electronic system that is mentioned in equation 34 of the following link (https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/1 ... .84.245110).

Dear Bramhachari Khamari

the PhaseLifeTime is the inverse of off-diagonal term of the matrix (of the Eq. 34)

\Gamma_{n1,n2} for n1/=n2

while the RadLifeTime is inverse of the diagonal term

\Gamma_{n1,n2} for n1==n2

so a large life-time means a small smearing in linear response, while
a short life-time correspond to a large smearing.

best

Dear Sir,
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Following two things I would like to clarify

i) RadLifetime represents life time of the electronic population and Phaselifetime denotes dephasing rate of equation 34 of the above link. Is this correct?

ii) If I apply a strong pulse then how much value should I set for RadLifetime and Phaselifetime.
